Gear

For more than 20 years, my camera gear consisted of a fully manual Pentax K-1000, a Pentax 50 mm manual focus lens, and an Albinar 70-300 mm zoom lens. I entered the digital world in 2005 when I purchased the Canon Digital Rebel XT with Sigma 28-80 mm and a 70-300 mm zoom lenses. I was never very happy with the Sigma 70-300 mm lens, so remembering how sweet the 50 mm prime lens was on the Pentax, I eventually sold that lens and got the Canon 85 mm f1.8 in 2007. Sweet.

Next purchase was an external flash – the Canon 580 EX II Speedlite.

Additions since then include a Canon 200 mm f2.8L

And a Sigma 28 mm f1.8.

Finally, this year for my birthday, I traded in the Rebel for a Canon 40D.

One more acquisition to complete the process from capture to wall is a large format printer – the Epson Stylus Pro 3880.

What’s left on my wish list? Too much to name, but in the immediate future, I’d like to pick up an ultra wide angle lens (at least 15 mm or wider) to finally give me a bit of true wide angle on my crop sensor 40D, some extension tubes, and possibly the 1.4x or 2x telecoverter.

Software

For the most part, I use Canon’s Digital Photo Professional, Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Photomatix.
